RJS 2.0 – A New Beginning

RJS and HelpSystemsWell the last few months have been very eventful here at RJS. This summer the time came for my long-time business partner, Dennis Johnson, to retire and we merged with HelpSystems at the same time on July 1, 2014 (read the press release for more details).

HelpSystems is a company we have known and respected for a long time and we feel they can help take the RJS products to the next level. The RJS document lifecycle management and delivery technologies are complementary to the existing HelpSystems product offerings, making this a great match for both companies.

We have already discovered that many mutual customers are happy with the long history both businesses have of placing customer service first, making it the most important aspect of what we do.

RJS and HelpSystems both have large IBM i customer-bases and also have products running on multiple platforms including IBM i, Windows, Linux and AIX. So no matter what platform a customer uses, there’s a good chance we have an operational or paperless process automation product to help.

I find my new role as Director of Document Management with HelpSystems to be an exciting change after 20 years of running my own company. While the business transition was somewhat bittersweet for me, I get the opportunity to stay with the company in a new role that allows me to focus more on our customers and where the products are going rather than dealing directly with daily business operations. I no longer have to worry about managing the day-to-day business affairs, which had become increasingly complex and time-consuming in recent years.

I get to spend more of my time thinking about our core business – which is helping companies save money and go paperless while managing their documents more effectively with automated processes.

As part of my new role I will be writing, speaking, working and meeting with customers and business partners more than I have been during the past several years. I’m excited to get out and visit more customers and partners via roadshows, trade shows and other educational events where we can help our customers both understand and incorporate document management process automation into their core business apps.

I will be creating regular blog/article posts with my industry observations and things that I find to be useful and relevant to share with the RJS/HelpSystems audience. Additionally, we’ll host webinars and produce whitepaper, eBooks, and other needed content to help educate professionals about the value of automating paper-based processes, capturing and archiving system-generated content (e.g. reports, forms, other documents, etc.).

I am also hoping we get the chance to build standard Accounts Payable and other ERP integrations into many of the mainstream ERP and business applications in the market today including Epicor, QAD, SAP, Oracle, JDE, Sage, Infor, Microsoft and more.

We’re here to serve as your guide to paperless processes so please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or requests for content that isn’t already out there. Here’s to 20 more years of helping our customers successfully implement paperless process.

-Richard
