We hope everyone enjoyed the short week and got their kids to school on time. Here’s to a great weekend and some fantastic Friday Fun Links!

Let’s start off with the ageless debate: what user interface is better, Apple or Microsoft? Ed Bott of ZDNet wrote a fantastic piece this week examining the UI design differences of two similar and recently released products – Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 and iPhoto ’11. With a mixture of screenshots and navigational testing, you might be impressed by how nicely these products compare.

For television fans of the ’60s and ’70s, you’ll probably remember Robert Conrad from such hit shows as The Wild Wild West and Baa Baa Black Sheep. You might also recall Robert Conrad in a classic commercial campaign for Eveready batteries. We tracked down one these ads and were impressed by the “incredible” technology of 1977. It really is amazing to see how far we’ve come.

It looks like there will be several great movies debuting in the final months of 2011. The Daily Beast gives us their list of 25 “must-see movies” this fall and several look Oscar-worthy. Personally, I’m most looking forward to seeing Drive, Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I’m usually a fan of any and all ice cream, but I think I’ll be passing on Ben & Jerry’s new ice cream flavor. As an homage to a classic Saturday Night Live skit, “Schweddy Balls” will soon be available at your favorite grocery market. The ice cream flavor consists of vanilla ice cream, rum, fudge-covered rum balls and milk-chocolate malt balls.
